Our Saviour’s Musical Instruments

OSEL organ

Holtcamp Pipe Organ

Organist: Diane Pearson (Sunday 8:00 & 9:15 Services)
Organist: Jeff Rudi (Saturday Services)

Our organ was installed and dedicated in 1989. It is comprised of four divisions: three manual and one pedal. The instrument incorporates electro-pneumatic key and stop action and a solid stat capture system.

It has 23 stops, 29 ranks and 1706 pipes. There are 61 keys on each of the three manuals and 32 pedals for the pedal board. The majority of the pipes are made of alloys of tin, lead, and zinc. However, there are many pipes made from wood belonging to the flute family and the Fagott reed in the pedal division. There is also flamed copper pipes used in the Fafara of the solo division. The Fanfara trumpets are the horizontally projecting pipes at the top of the organ.

The organ counsel itself is quite unique. The natural keys are made from plumwood; the accidentals are of palisandra from Africa; the stop tabs are cherry; the cabinet is made of oak and walnut. The console is on a movable platform allowing for considerable flexibility in its location.

The small circle of bells located at the front part of the organ is called a cymbelstern. These are 8 fully tuned handbells ranging from C-7 through C-8. They are electric and activated with a foot piston located at the foot pedal stops of the organ.

Handbells

Malmark Handbells http://www.malmark.com/
Schulmerich Handbell http://www.schulmerich.com/

We own a 5 octave set of Malmark Handbells with a range of C-3 through C-8 and a 4-Octave set of Schulmerich Handbells. Each set has its own unique characteristics and qualities. Handbells are comprised of 80% copper and 20% tin. Each bell is tuned to perfection in its own pitch. The size of the bell dictates the pitch.

Malmark Choir Chimes http://www.malmark.com/

We own a 5 octave set of choir chimes. Choirchimes® have the same basic characteristics of handbells at a more affordable price. These chimes can be used to teach the techniques of ringing and work very well for young children. They are basically a tuning fork of different lengths to produce different pitches. They work very well as an addition to create a different flavor in a piece when both chimes and bells are used.

Other Instruments of the Church
